Update from the President
March 2011
We are so fortunate at The Mariners' Museum to have such a close relationship with our docents and volunteers. This month, I would like to showcase the work of one particular docent, Vince Scott. Not only did Vince and his late wife Dotty personally know August and Winnifred Crabtree, but they shared their passion for the miniature ships and continued to conduct tours for many, many years benefiting thousands of visitors to the Museum. Vince and Dotty's efforts now take on a new form, a beautiful and extremely informative book, The Miniature Ships of August and Winnifred Crabtree. No one knew the Crabtrees as well as Vince and Dotty, and as such, their book is the best account of one of the Museum's gems. Thanks, Vince, for all you've done!

Update from the President
April 2011
Spring is here! What better place to celebrate the warmer weather than at The Mariners' Museum Park with a stroll or jog around the beautiful 5-mile Noland Trail. Our Park is the Nation's largest privately maintained park that is free and open to the public. It is a great place to get outdoors with children, loved ones, and canine friends. If you love the Park as much as I do, I hope you'll join us for the annual Park Clean Up Day on April 30th. Click here to volunteer. If you can't make it, you can always make a donation to help us keep the Park pristine. See you in the Park and on the Noland Trail!

From our beginning in the 1930's, who could have imagined the impact The Mariners' Museum would have not only in the United States but also on the world? The Mariners' Museum, designated by Congress as America's National Maritime Museum, is home to America's largest privately maintained park that is free and open to the public, as well as the largest marine metals conservation project in the world, The USS Monitor. A maritime adventure awaits at your fingertips at www.MarinersMuseum.org.
